Core Values
One of the strengths of the school is the appreciation and concern that pupils show for each other. This ensures that nearly all pupils learn successfully in a nurturing environment. (estyn,2016)

We see our most important mission as helping to develop a strong set of core values in our pupils.
Pen-y-Fai’s key core values were established as a result of collaborative work between our pupils, parents, governors and staff.
This values set is affectionately known as;
Be Honest
“Let your yes be yes and your no be no”
Honesty
It is important to note that this does not always mean telling the truth. We feel it means that we always try to say and do what is in the best interests of people that we work with and care for, as far as we are able to.
Show Respect
Love your neighbour as yourself.
Respect
A crucial value when working with other human beings. We will encounter many others with different beliefs, opinions, behaviours and sometimes even different values to ourselves, we feel it is important to show tolerance for, and understanding of, all others in our school despite these differences.
Spread Joy
A cheerful look brings joy to the heart
Joy
We feel that this comes from a real happiness and love inside us that can’t help but spill out to others in our smiles, words, actions and thoughts. Even in times of personal difficulty, we aim to have a positive impact on those around about us.
Act with Kindness
Be kind to one another
Kindness
We believe that it is of great importance that we all practise ‘putting ourselves out’ for others who are less fortunate than ourselves, even at times when others may display challenging behaviours towards us.
