Welcome to Year 6
About Us
Croeso! A warm welcome to the Year 6 class page.
I am Mrs Gharahlar, the Year 6 class teacher at Pen-Y-Fai School, I am responsible for ensuring every child has a fun-filled, memorable final year at our school and is ready for their new adventures at comprehensive school. We are fortunate to have Mrs Bray supporting us and bringing lots of laughter to the classroom too.
Class Information
In Year 6, we strive to create many exciting learning opportunities and skills that are purposeful in everyday life. We are very fortunate to have a fantastic school building and we make use of as many areas around the school as we can. These include the outdoors, shared areas, green screen rooms, quiet rooms, the Peace Garden and our classroom.
We have a wide range of technology and devices that we use in nearly all lessons including iPads, laptops and chrome books.
We value your input as your child’s primary carer, and as an expert on your child. We rely on your partnership, so that together we can provide your child with the highest quality of education and care. This will make their time at school happy and enjoyable.
Trips
Throughout the year, pupils in their final year will experience many trips and events.
Every year a residential trip is organised where the children experience a two night stay in an outdoor adventure based site. These trips prove very rewarding and enjoyable. The residential setting and team-building activities break down barriers, allow children to develop and practice important social skills, and encourage them to work more collaboratively, thus building skills such as teamwork and communication.
Ask many adults and the memory that stands out the most from school is a trip away! Whilst on an adventure trip Year 6 will overcome challenges and achieve things they did not think possible. This gives them a large confidence boost that they can take into other areas of their life and learning.
